The Holy Rosary app is a prayer tool. We do not sell your data, we do not build advertising profiles about you, and we do not require any account or sign-in. Your prayer life is private.
Mary Our Help Ministry ("we", "us", or "the Ministry") operates the Holy Rosary mobile application (the "App") available on Google Play. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights in relation to it.
This App is a Catholic evangelization tool dedicated to the memory of Most Rev. Ayo-Maria Atoyebi, O.P., Bishop Emeritus of Ilorin. It is provided free of charge as a gift to the faithful. We handle all data with the same reverence we bring to the mission itself.
By installing or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of this Policy, please discontinue use of the App.
Information We Collect
The App is designed to minimise data collection. The table below summarises exactly what is collected, by whom, and why.

🙏 Your prayer intentions are yours alone. Any intention text you type in the App is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party under any circumstances.
How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information described above only for the following purposes:
- App improvement: Aggregated, anonymous analytics help us understand which prayers, mysteries, and features are most used so we can make the App better for everyone.
- Stability: Crash reports allow us to identify and fix bugs that may disrupt your prayer experience.
- Push notifications: If you grant notification permission, we may send occasional reminders to pray the Rosary or news from the Ministry. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
- In-app review: We track app open count locally so we can ask for a Google Play review after you have had enough time to experience the App. We never share this count externally.
We do not use your information to serve targeted advertisements, build user profiles, sell to data brokers, or for any commercial purpose beyond running and improving this App.
Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following Google/Firebase services. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — Collects pseudonymous usage data such as screen views, session duration, and feature interactions. Data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. Firebase Privacy Policy →
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) — Used to deliver push notifications if you have granted notification permission. Your device token is used solely to route notifications to your device. Firebase Privacy Policy →
- Google Play In-App Review API — Allows the App to prompt for a Play Store rating within the App. The review is submitted directly to Google; we do not receive the content of your review. Google Privacy Policy →
- Google Play In-App Update API — Used to prompt you when a new version of the App is available. No personal data is shared beyond what Google already holds from your Play account. Google Privacy Policy →
We do not integrate with any social media platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers. Audio files are served from our own servers (maryourhelp.org and app.maryourhelp.org) exclusively.
The App requests INTERNET permission solely to: (1) download audio files the first time you play them, and (2) communicate with Firebase services. After first play, all audio works offline. The App never sends prayer text, intentions, or devotional choices over the network.
Data Storage & Security
Data stored on your device (novena progress, preferences, cached audio) is held in your device's private application storage. This data:
- Is accessible only to the Holy Rosary App — not to other apps on your device
- Is automatically deleted when you uninstall the App
- Can be cleared at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Holy Rosary → Clear Data
Firebase collects data that is processed and stored on Google's servers in the United States and may be transferred internationally in accordance with Google's data transfer mechanisms. We have no control over Google's data centres but rely on Google's industry-leading security practices for this data.
We take reasonable precautions to protect data in transit. All audio files are served over HTTPS. The App enforces android:usesCleartextTraffic="false", meaning no unencrypted HTTP requests are made.
Children's Privacy
The Holy Rosary App is rated Everyone on Google Play and is suitable for users of all ages, including children. The App does not contain age-restricted content, advertisements, or social features.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require any account registration, name, or contact information from any user of any age.
Firebase Analytics collects aggregate, pseudonymous usage data from all users. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has inadvertently provided personal data, please contact us using the details in Section 9 and we will promptly address your concern.
Your Rights
Depending on your country or region, you may have rights in relation to your personal data, including:
- Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Right to Restriction: Ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to Object: Object to certain types of processing
- Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
Because we collect very little personal data, most of your data is stored locally on your device, where you already have full control. For data held by Firebase (Google), you may exercise your rights directly with Google through your Google account settings, or by contacting us and we will assist you.
To opt out of analytics, you may disable analytics sharing on your Android device via Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation (this affects all apps on your device, not just ours).
To revoke notification permission, go to Settings → Apps → Holy Rosary → Notifications → and toggle off.
To exercise any other rights, please contact us using the details in Section 9. We will respond within 30 days.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide prominent notice within the App on next launch.
We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
